Services
Step 1: Initial Consultation
In response to your enquiry, I’ll be in touch to arrange an initial consultation over Zoom. This is an informal opportunity to outline your concerns about your child’s brain health and cognition, share medical case history details and reports, and ask me questions about tPBM.
Older children and teenagers might want to share the consultation, and feel agency in the process.
In follow-up to our initial Zoom chat, you’ll receive further information by email, explaining how tPBM works and what the therapy program involves. In turn, I may request further case history details to help tailor the treatment protocol.
Step 2: Purchasing a tPBM Light
I will guide you in purchasing a red-near infrared PBM light that suits your child’s need and is affordable for you. Having researched and trialled various PBM LED lights over the years, the light manufactured by Red Light Rising remains a good choice for families, offering a combination of important features:
- Power 35 Watts (48 x 1W LED lights)
- Optimal frequencies 660nm & 850nm
- Density 50-86 mW/cm2
- Light Size 15cm x 12 cm
- LED safety
- Solo or combo light frequencies
- Portability
- Handheld or Lamp mounted
The one-off purchase of a handheld PBM light is around £180-£200. Having a high quality light is a big step forward. If considering a brain helmet or a laser light, the cost is naturally far greater, and I’ll gladly recommend suitable products.
Step 3: Treatment Plan
My principal service is to devise a tailored treatment plan for your child. The aim is to understand their brain health and cognitive function, and optimise their response to tPBM.
- Choice of targeted brain areas
- Choice of light frequency
- Time (mins) of light treatment per area
- Distance of light from the head
- Choice of day / nightime treatment
Dosimetry is important, not because overdosing is a risk (tPBM is entirely safe) but because overdosing reduces the benefit. It’s a matter of finding ‘the sweet spot’ between too little and too much.
Step 4: Ongoing Support
Supporting you with kindness, encouragement and advice to deliver the tPBM treatment plan is key to its success. In the first month, weekly follow-up is important to ensure the plan becomes well established at home. Thereafter, fortnightly support may be sufficient; I’ll take my lead from you. The aim is to help you become confidently independent in using the light at home, knowing support is available whenever needed.
Phone calls and video are a good way of working together, with scheduled 10-15 minute chats.
Apart from the practical delivery of tPBM at home, ongoing support provides a good opportunity for you to discuss your child’s response, to share your observations, concerns and insights, allowing me to adapt the tPBM treatment plan as they progress.
Older teens might enjoy taking on this relationship independently, with your additional support.

Step 5: Adding Impact
Clinical experience over recent years has demonstrated the powerful additional impact of combining tPBM with two further elements of care, allowing them to act syngerstically:
- Brain nourishing food – the gut is the second brain
- Brain nourishing supplements – enhancing biochemistry
Each of these is a field in its own right. My role is to share what I have learnt from self-guided research, further education and practice, helping you to make informed decisions. These are simple things to optimise, and have a powerful impact.
